Week 9: Day 3, A Little Lagniappe

It is so cool to see something I have designed out in public.  As you may know I designed the Leave A Trace logo for D and the Leave a Trace.net ministry she started.  We had bumper stickers made and today I was driving behind a car that had one.  The word is getting out!  It's so awesome!!

And my sister K is a polymer clay artist, and she made D a pendant with her logo on it.  I am so impressed with how K has developed her craft!

Week 8: It's a Wrap

This week has been a different kind of journey for me.  I started the week with the inspiration photos of my cousin's trip to Russia.  I focused on St. Basil's Cathedral in Moscow's Red Square.  It is a beautiful and architecturally unique building.  As the week progressed, I got caught up in the MUMC Consignment Sale.  Getting ready for it, and volunteering -- it's all consuming.  The good news is that we made $92,000.  Of that amount, 70% goes back to the consignors, and 30% — $27,600 — goes to Children's Missions around the world.  Not bad for a couple of days hard work!

So this coming week I will continue with St. Basil's as my inspiration for the blog. I've very excited about being able to see this one through to completion.

You'll love this!  At the  consignment sale I was shopping for those 2 adorable boys that my cousin adopted and I saw these pj's.

They are so cute and my son had a pair when he was little -- Blue's Clues was his favorite!!!  When he outgrew them, they passes onto my daughter.  I just had to buy them for the boys.  I was showing what I got to my sister when she just started laughing and turning red.  Evidently I had given them to her for my nephew to wear and she put them in the sale. Those are the pj's my kids wore, and my nephew, and now my cousins boys...and I bought them twice!  Just gotta laugh!!

Week 7: It's a Wrap

I can't believe it's been 7 weeks already.  This blog and the creative process has become such a regular part of my life, that it is a joy to do it every day.  But, somehow this week I have lost a day, not just an hour!  And since I find it easier time-wise to keep the schedule this way, I'm officially changing my days around.  My weekly schedule will now follow this format:  Monday - Inspiration; Tuesday - Sketching; Wednesday - Creative Representation; Thursday - Color or Application Exploration; Friday - Graphic Image; Saturday - Freebie Card; Sunday Weekly Wrap.  I hope you don't mind the change.  I know I will enjoy it!

I thought you may enjoy seeing a bit more of S's work.  His style is always evolving, and changing.  I love to see it develop!  Since I snagged these from FB, I don't have all the descriptions to share with you.

Week 6, Day 3: It's a Creative Tuesday, Part 1

....and allergy season has come out in full force.  Here in Charlotte, the weather has been beautiful, and all the Bradford Pear trees are in bloom. They really are beautiful!  I'll have to take a picture to post.

Today is Tuesday, which means it's time to get creative.  I have been stewing over what I would create all day and then how to do it.  I would love to take a couple of days and create something BIG, but I can't so I'll add that to my list of still want to do....maybe that can be my blog focus next year...everything I wanted to do, but didn't have time, money, space, creative mindset, etc. to do.

When I finally got home, cooked dinner, and cleaned up, I got started with some black and tan paper (they didn't have anything that resembled the golden color of the inspiration sculpture)La.

Then I cut out circles – it's really hard to stay small when I really just want to go huge, get some sheets of plywood, some nails, clue and paint and go wild! (Another issue, I don't have the tools to go big...but if I go up to my mom's, there is a beautiful workshop up there....)  So these are the supplied that I ended up with, circles (and some extra paper), scissors, glue gun & glue stick, X-acto knife (beware kids, not a toy to play with!!!), cardboard.

And this is where I ran out of steam, so this week I am combining day 3 & 4 together, and will finish my masterpiece tomorrow.

This is our cat Lily.  She love to get into boxes and sit on paper.  If you put a piece of paper on the table or couch, she will sit on it.  If you have an empty box, she will get in it.....even if she doesn't fit! Sorry it's blurry, but I think it's still funny!

Week 6, Day 2: It's a Bit Sketchy

Tonight while flipping channels trying to find something decent to watch (and with no success may I add) I picked up my sketch book just started sketching.  After sketching pieces of the sculpture, I did a sketch of a random pattern of squares and circles.  I like the direction of the detail piece I started but didn't finish....it got all wonky since I didn't do a rough sketch first and because I started it at the edge of the paper. What was I thinking?

This past week was my birthday.  On Saturday my mom was in town and we got together for dinner at my brothers house.  He surprised me as with a birthday cake -- he's the ace of cakes in our family!  Does it remind you of anything?  The only problem is he got the number wrong! (hehehehehe)
