This morning I found myself with some solitary time....unusual for a Wed, because my hubby doesn't work and I homeschool my son (they were both asleep). I was thinking back on when I loved to do watercolors and was fairly good and decided that this week, my creative venture would be a watercolor painting.
This is a picture I painted when I was in High School. One of the few I still have. |
I looked through my supplies and found a pack of watercolors, my old brushes, a sponge and some watercolor paper. Can't believe I had everything I needed. So I used the sketch of the iron Fleur-de-lis and got to work.

The Process:
I started with a light sketch on the paper, then I got my paints ready and wet my paper down.

Putting out my paints |
Sample of the paint colors I chose |
Wetting down my paper |
Then I started to mix my colors, and paint.
It's been years since I have painted, so I'm proud of what I have done. Although after I finished it, I realized I didn't even look at the photo -- Oh well!
What do you think? Are you inspired to pick up some paints and see what you can do? If you do, take a picture and post to my flickr group!! I'd love to see it.

I like it. You haven't lost your touch.
Can you teach me how to do that? I love to paint, but mine never turn out like that!!!!
